About Dawson
Not only do I have a firm education in mathematics and physics, but much of my education was self-learned either in place of or before my formal classes. Being a hobby in addition to a major, my expertise stretches necessarily beyond merely passing quizzes and tests. I prefer to look at math and physics as an endless sea of raw derivations flowing from a simple framework of a few first principles. When teaching, I prefer to do so conceptually, letting the student discover WHY something is the way it is. This teaches the student how to solve problems on their own with limited crystallized knowledge, rather than memorizing a long list of rote formulas.

The first thing I will do is ask them what their goals are in coming to me. Do they need help with a few concrete ideas? Are they having trouble understaning the fundamentals of a topic? Would they like me to teach them everything from scratch? Once I have a good idea of why a student is here and what exactly they hope to get from me, it becomes easier to create a personalized lesson plan.
