About Zion

I'm a college junior who's been in love with math since I could remember. I've been tutoring grades 1st to 8th for a while now, and I'd help some college students get ready for TSI testing as well. The most passionate thing about tutoring is seeing all of my students rise in their academics and even get higher score in exams and TSI testing.

I was just all of a sudden asked by my friends for help in class, and the word spread about my "math tutoring." So I turned it into an actually after school program even tho there were teachers who already taught after school. I just give it a better explanation than teachers since some would rush through things thinking that everybody was at the same level. I would even have them retake notes because the notes given would even confuse me and they were usually rushed or just chicken scratch.

I've taken alg. 1, alg. 2, geo, pre cal, college alg, coll. trig, and coll. pre cal in high school and have a A- average in all of the classes.

About the lesson

I would first ask about themselves questions such as "Do you like math" "Is your teacher good at explaining or one-on-ones" and "how often do you study or look back at your notes." Then I would ask exactly what subject their in and we'll go over the material from the beginning.

I've work kids who had no idea what was going on to kids who just needed a look-see at a few things before a big test. My most popular grade range are grade 3rd-9th but I have helped quite a lot of students get better acores at TSI testing.

Although older is wiser, sometimes their way if teaching could be too old fashioned. Teachers who are probably in their 40s or younger tend to be very fun to learn from and they aren't as impatient or rushed. If you do need a more stern and we'll taught tutor, then go for 40 or older if that's what you're really looking for.

My most recent event I was fond of wasn't a tutoring sess. One of my students I help with TSI 2 yrs back had given me a call. She was thanking me and telling me how her studying skills and note taking skills that I had taught her had really helped her step up in, not just math but, all of her classes. Now she helps tutor some of her friends and even rights notes for those with mental/physical disabilities or classmates who were absent for a short period of time.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should get together what parts of their notes they might be confused about or missed and their homework. Maybe even have a list of subjects that they need looking over or a study guide if the do have a test or quiz coming up.

Details

When I first started out during the weeks it was free. Now during the week, lessons are $30/hr.On the weekends it was $35/hr. If they were recommended by a student and/or they brought back a businesses card of mine, their first 4hrs are free.
