About Hanna
My tutoring stands out because of my experience, relatability, and organized mentality. My recent experience intensively learning how to teach and working as a tutor and teacher makes my teaching style relatable and professional. Being a college student also makes me more comfortable to be around and open up to for younger students. My organizational skills ensured that we set up a clear schedule and goals and reach them in a timely manner that works for both me and you.
I am very passionate about math and love helping others understand a piece of the subject I study everyday.
I am currently a sophmore at Elon University studying Pure Mathematics. Last semester, I worked in Elon's mathematics department as a teaching assistant for Calculus 1. I have worked for four years at a summer camp in Florida where I taught enviromental science and biology lessons. I also worked as an academic counselor this summer at a camp at the University of Virginia and taught SAT and ACT math classes, art classes, took on the role of a teaching assistant, and privately tutored kids in math.

Generally, I like to assess a student's strengths, weaknesses, and goals so that we can come up with a plan. Speaking to both the child and the parent at the first tutoring session helps ensure that we set clear goals and make sure we are reaching them in a timely manner. I also like to see how to child handles math problems and unfamiliar material so that I can modify how I teach them in the future.
I have worked with students in both group and private settings. Their ages ranged from 8 to 18, where most of the students that I taught or tutored math to were about 12-17.
