About Paul

I hav been teaching middle school math and STEAM courses for 10 years. I am especially tuned into teaching 6th and 7th grade math. I graduated from Stanford University and learned what makes a good lesson.

I also know what it's like to be in middle school math. It can be overwelming and frustrating. I know how to make lessons simple and give you the tools to hold them in your memory. I like to teach lessons that are engaging and interactive. Desmos.com lessons are one of my favorite tools for bringing a lesson to life. Students can work along with me as they experience a lesson.

Most importantly, I'm patient, and understading. One of the most devastating things a teacher can do is allow their own frustrations to damage a students self confidence.

It extremely helpfull if students share with me links to curriculum so I can research lessons ahead of time. That way I don't waste your time.

I love math and sharing it with students! I love the struggle and the "aha" moments when students have a breakthrough. When I was a middle school student, I had my struggles, but ultimately that's what I loved about it.

I have always loved math. I have been teaching math grades 5 through 11 for the past 10 years. I attended Stanford University and understand what is expected in higher eductation. I'm currently teaching middleschool math am especially tuned into teaching 7th grade math.

About the lesson

I really like to know what students are currently working on ahead of time so that I can prepare some short and effective lessons.

I love working through examples, creating colorfull notes, and referencing online lessons. I try to first engage students with an online component. From there I work through examples, and then create notes for students to use as a study guide. I send those notes and other related sources to the student to use at a later date. I like to share my iPad screen so that you can see how to show your work and reasoning! I know a lot of simple tricks to help you apply your knowledge!
