About Thu hien

My name is Thu Hien Nguyen, and I am currently a senior at the University of California, Los Angeles, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. I am excited about the opportunity to become a tutor and share my knowledge and experience with students.

During my time at UCLA, I have maintained a solid GPA of 3.5 and have completed relevant coursework such as Transport Phenomena, Separation Processes, Thermodynamics, Chemical Reaction Engineering, and Numerical and Mathematical Methods. My technical skills include proficiency in software and tools such as AVEVA Pro II, MATLAB, Microsoft Office, Autodesk 360 CAD, P&ID, PFD, Visio, and LabView.

I have hands-on experience as an Undergraduate Laboratory Assistant at UCLA, where I operated various laboratory equipment, followed strict safety protocols, and utilized Excel to track laboratory supplies and inventory. Additionally, I have collaborated on multiple technical projects. For instance, I worked in a team to design an ammonia plant with a capacity of 2500 metric tons per day, where we successfully simulated and analyzed the second reformer using PRO II.

Another project I am proud of is the Chemical Engineering Introductory Project with AIChE-UCLA, where my team and I engineered and built a coffee machine using recycled materials. I also participated in the Lifetime Engineering Application Project, where we designed an efficient soda production process and placed second overall.

Beyond these projects, I have personal experience in designing a holding tank to spray dryer pipe system for milk powder production. This project involved developing pseudo-code in Microsoft Excel to analyze various designs and oversee the entire milk production process, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

My combination of technical expertise, practical experience, and passion for teaching makes me confident that I can be an effective tutor, helping students understand complex concepts and succeed in their studies.
