About Joy
I am a recent college graduate who loves teaching students of all types! I was a math tutor in high school and I was a mentor in my research lab in college. I graduated from UT Austin in December of 2019 with a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Biology and a Pre-Health Professions Certificate. I am starting graduate school in July of 2020!

I have worked with 9th and 10th grade students in need of math help! I have also worked with undergraduate microbiology lab researchers.
I would advise the student to find someone that they are comfortable with and can communicate well with without feeling embarrassed or afraid to ask questions. I would also advise them to find a teacher that is willing to listen to the student's needs and then make a plan from there.
I have recently repainted my bedroom in my childhood home! I chose the initial color when I was younger and I have since grown to dislike it, so a couple of weeks ago I picked a new color that I thought was more suitable and I repainted the whole bedroom by hand! It looks a lot better now and it made me happy to get some experience doing home improvement work.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think through what exactly it is they are looking to do (improve test scores, seek deeper understanding of a topic), and then inform the teacher of their exact goals and how they learn best (lecture, practice problems, etc).
