About Emily
I'm a third year mechanical engineering student at TCU looking to help struggling students surpass their grade expectations. I've been through many math and science courses over my time as a student, and have learned what works well in teaching styles from helping my peers and them doing the same for me. I've tutored my peers in Statics; Calculus I, II, and III (multi-variable calculus); and more. I've also helped with lower-level education as far back as 7th grade math.
I initially began in high school when I realized my interest and success in maths and sciences.
As a third year mechanical engineer, I am well versed in a variety of math and science courses.

I like to start by seeing their learning style, letting them lead in working problems so I can cater to their needs. From there, it's easier to prepare problems and small lesson plans depending on where they are in their course, and what they're struggling with.
As young as 7th grade to as advanced as a sophomore in college. I've worked with both visual and auditory learning styles.
Go in open minded, but be clear about your expectations for your teacher and if you have a path in mind it's important to vocalize that.
Over the summer, I did a crash course session with a student once a week for a summer course and helped the student to achieve an A in the class when they were originally concerned about passing.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What am I having trouble understanding? Is it a conceptual misunderstanding, or a mathematical error? Can I figure it out a possible solution reading the textbook?
