About Manraj

Every student has unique needs when it comes to learning. What works for one student may not work for another student. This is where I come in -- I see what each of my student needs and teach according to them. I just completed my MD and am currently interviewing for residency. I am qualified to teach any science or math course due to my background. I am also helping students prepare for individual block exams for their courses, SAT, ACT, CBSE, CCSE, and STEP 1 exams.

About the lesson

I want to know the following about each student before getting started with them: current grade, current studying habits, their goal(s) in which they need my help, and time. It is important that I know where the student stands academically before I start creating lesson plans. Every student's lesson plan is different and built specifically for them. A student who has a B+ in AP Calculus AB and wants to bump it to an A will have a different lesson plan than a student who has a C and wants to get an A in the same course. Some students only need help studying for one exam which will be different than students who want to work with me for an entire semester or school year. I also think it is important to know what the student has been doing in the past to study or prepare for exams so we can make changes accordingly.

I think it is important that the student feels respected, heard, and encouraged. The teacher needs to understand the students' goals and help them achieve it. So when looking for a teacher, I would recommend the student to have a consultation with the teacher. During that consulation, it is very important to discuss the following: current academic status (grades, courses, etc.), limitations/resitrictions, and what you want to achieve by working with that teacher.

I want my students to ask anything and everything because when you choose to not ask a question, you lose an opportunity to learn something new. Every single question that my students ask me has value to me and while I do not know everything, I always do my best to find an answer for my students.
