About Daniel
I've tutored math for several years at a high school in subjects ranging from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus. I offer a complimentary consultation to get to know the student and where they are in their classes and knowledge. I prefer to also hear from the student's teacher what they identify the student's greatest struggles to be. I am extremely passionate about helping students with math as I once struggled myself and only succeeded after constant help from a very patient and persistent teacher.
I was hired back from the school that I attended because they needed a math tutor and I had been an exceptionally good student. I was also offered a job at a preschool and an elementary school because of my experience with special needs children.
Besides having tutored math at a high school for several years, I also worked in corporate finance in the television industry and have a background in accounting.

I like to beging by meeting with the parents, and the student, and hearing what the parents believe the students struggles to be and what the student believes their struggles to be. Then we discuss, what does each hope to accomplish from the tutoring. I like to talk with the student and understand how committed they are and what their attitude is like on the subject of tutoring. Once we've met and decide to go ahead with the first couple of lessons, I want the student to get a full idea of the value of our meetings and decide if they really enjoy my teaching style and wish to proceed with tutoring.
I've worked with all different types of students. Students with varying degrees of experience, knowledge, and family support.
Spend some time with the teacher first and open up to them. It is good to share some of your experience so the teacher knows you better and it also gives you a chance to see if your teacher listens to you well. If your teacher isn't listening to you it will be much harder for them to teach you efficiently.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think students should really reflect well on what they struggle with. What is it the trouble they run into, are they afraid of something, do they dread a certain type of problem, is it all attitude? The student should be mindful of what they want to change by having a tutor. Try to think of a SMART goal, one that is Specific, Measurable, Achievable , Realistic, and Timely.

Details
The first meeting is complimentary to discuss the students position and needs and for us to get to know each other. The first 2 hours after that are $35 each to give the student time to get used to my style of tutoring and ensure that both the student and parent are happy with the arrangement. After that the price is $50 an hour.
