About Emily

Before getting my bachelors in Applied Science of Engineering from Rutgers School of Engineering, I went to community college and recieved three associates in Physics, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. I love thinking technically and excel at helping others learn. I was a daycare teacher throughout high school and worked as a live-in nanny during the start of Covid. I love working with all ages and hope to pass along my love for all things STEM.

My mom has been an elementary school teacher for 30 years, and I have always loved going to school and helping her. It was not the career path I chose, but it is something I miss. There is nothing better than helping someone understand a concept and seeing everything "click" for them.

I have a Bachelors degree in the Applied Science of Engineering and three Associate degrees in Physics, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. I have tutored students ages 8 and up, and have experience as a nanny and daycare teacher.

About the lesson

I like to have samples of at least one test/exam as well as some homework examples so I can see what their teacher is looking for specifically. From there I create an example for them to solve and see where any misunderstandings and mistakes are occurring. I also listen for input, if the student knows what they need to focus on, I can get started on that right away.

I have worked with nearly all ages, levels and backgrounds.

Don't be nervous asking questions, the reason we know so much is because we asked questions ourselves. Everyone's brain works differently, and sometimes you need extra time or attention to understand, and that is totally normal.
