About Edward
Every child is unique and has their own learning style. Having taught math for 18 years, I understand how to analyze a student's misconceptions and more importantly, how to correct them.
I am a Massachusetts certified teacher and have taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grade math. The majority of my time has been teaching sixth grade math. As math teacher, I successfully helped many students over the years gain 1.5 to 2.0 grade levels in a regular school year, as well as achieve 'Exceeds Expectations' on the math MCAS.
I have a Masters in Education and am a Massachusetts certified teacher.

First, I administer a pre-test to determine strengths and weaknesses. Next, I analyze the students work to determine whether they have a basic misconception, did they make a simple computational error, or do they not understand because they lack foundational skills developed in previous grade levels. Finally, I teach the student multiple strategies to solve math problems but focus on the strategy that works best for the individual student.
