About Rachel
I like to really get to know my students and where and how they are struggling. Then I take the material and put it in a way they understand. Being ND myself and having to teach myself through middle school, high school, and college, I can now reframe the concepts from conventional teaching to help my students understand the material.
The most rewarding part is when that "ah-ha!" moment happens and my student understands the concepts. The confidence the student gains from that is just amazing.
I have always loved helping others understand concepts, but now more than ever after being diagnosed as Neurodivergent. I know from experience how difficult it can be to try and understand concepts with the traditional mode of teaching and I dont want anyone to go through the challenges I did.
I have a Bachelor's in Biology and have been tutoring for fun since 2008. I have been a part time paid tutor since 2021.

I typically will call and get some background I do before the first session. That call generally takes 10-15 minutes. Then on the first session we establish where the student is, what exactly they are struggling with, and come up with a game plan for the following sessions.
I have worked with a wide range of students from middle school through college at all skill levels.
