About Dannan

I genuinely enjoy teaching. Math was my favorite subject until Algebra. That probably would have been the end of my love for the subject if it wasn't for an amazing teacher that helped me think about the rules and rational in a different way. I used this experience in creating a methodology that relies on taking students through iterations of logic and testing.

I love when things click for students and the functionality behind math excites them!

I first started tutoring as an undergraduate student. After graduating and starting my career I continued tutoring individuals on a 1:1 basis because I missed connecting with students and getting through mental hurdles to ah-hah moments.

About the lesson

Premeeting:
1) Meeting with guardian(s) to prioritize goals for tutoring

2) Meeting with student to prioritize goals for tutoring

3) Answer questions about myself, my lesson style and get to know the student. Attempt to understand key barriers student is facing

Syllabi, lessons and past tests:

1) Family responsible for emailing me syllabi, pictures of upcoming lessons and past tests

2) I review prior to each lesson and format lesson outline depending on goals of guardian(s) amd student

*please note that I have a full-time job and lessons will largely be conducted after 3pm PST and on weekends

I have tutored a variety of students ranging in age and level. My subjects are focused largely on math (intro math with students from 6-9, algebra, geometry) as well as AP economics and GED.

Make sure you're comfortable with how they respond to questions and requests. Request a meeting first and make sure that you are comfortable with them as a communicator.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1) What is the goal of the sessions (conceptual understanding, improved grades, learning how to learn)?

2) How much are you willing to spend on an ongoing basis?

3) Quality vs quantity. What prep work will the tutor be doing to assess your specific needs?
