About Danielle

I am currently a college undergraduate student double majoring in Theoretical Mathematics and Statistics with a minor in Spanish at The Ohio State University. I am a very good student, graduating high school as the saludatorian and with a current college GPA of 4.0. I am currently a tutor for college level math classes at my university so I have lots of experience with personal tutoring, especially in high level coursework. I have also previously held an internship for a year in a high school Spanish classroom so I am familiar with one-on-one teaching and creative approaches adapted to specific learning skills. When helping students, it is my goal to help them not only understand the problems at hand, but also the underlying concepts that will help them build the foundation for future learning.

Not only do I enjoy spreading my passion of mathematics with the students I help, I understand the struggles that students face when confronted with a tough concept. I know the great wave of satisfaction that is felt when difficult material is finally understood and makes sense and I hope to help more students feel this great triumph.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Theoretical Mathematics and Statistics at The Ohio State Univeristy and have college math coursework under my belt. I am a tutor through my university learning center, assisting other students in their college courses I have also previously worked an internship in a high school classroom where I had to create and teach specific lessons and work one-on-one with students which has given me great experience.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I like to first observe their approaches towards understanding and working on the material. Then, I like to try to help the student in ways that may be the easiest for them to understand, whether it be more visual, verbal, or logical. If that approach does not work, another one will be tried.

In my current job, I work with college students. However, I also have previous experience working with high school students in different subjects other than mathematics.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
While I think a student should always ask for help when they feel they are struggling with a concept, I think that they should be able to self reflect on themselves before seeking help so they can learn the most. Questions they could ask themself could be: Where am I getting stuck? What parts do I think are the most difficult to understand? Is this similar to any other material I have learned previously? In what ways is material taught that I understand best?
