About Celina
Most adults are not afraid to say they simply aren't a "math person," and that they struggle in their math classes growing up. I was one of these people until a teacher showed me it didn't have to be that way. Now, I have a passion for showing students that they can be "math people" too.
I am a licensed middle school math teacher with over 10 years of experience in tutoring students. I have taught all grades 4th-8th. I specialize in finding the way math connects for each specific brain. Everyone's brain works differently and therefore concepts need to be explained/taught in different ways for true connections to take place. I work to make learning engaging and enjoyable for each student, and to meet them exactly where they are. I don't teach math by forcing memorization of strict steps to follow. I teach math by getting students to reason about math and to make sense of it in real-life ways that matter, whether it's basic skills review or diving into new material.
