About Tiffany

Tiffany of Tiffany Tutors has over 10 years of teaching experience in middle and high school mathematics. She is a licensed teacher in both Alabama and Mississippi with an advanced certification in middle school mathematics. Currently, she teachers 7th - 9th grade mathematics in Aliceville, AL. In the past, she has served as an instructor for the MS Mathematics Teacher Institute, a member and presentor for the Mississippi Council for Teachers of Mathematics, as well as Mathematics Department Chair for six years.

I love being able to interact with children. Gathering their insights and perspectives on life and watching them grow as people is the most rewarding aspect of what I do.

My decision to teach was highly influenced by my mother who was also a mathematics teacher before becoming an assistant principal. I always admired the time she had to spend with us as children while maintaining a career. Therefore, once I had a child of my own, I felt that I wanted to provide him with a similar experience of having his mother available.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with concentration in Mathematics and English from the Mississippi University for Women. I also have a Master of Science in Early Childhood Services from Arkansas State University. I have over 10 years of teaching experience with secondary mathematics.

About the lesson

Typically, I begin tutoring with a pre-assessment to uncover any problem areas a client is struggling with. Next, I develop a plan to improve identified areas of weakness. If there are specific topics that a client has concerns with, I address those topics as well; however, I have learned that a large part of later misconceptions begin with gaps in a person's mathematical foundation.

I have worked with all ages of children from pre-school to adults. My tutoring clients are primarily secondary mathematics; however, I have worked with several students at the collegiate level.

Find a teacher willing to meet you where you are academically. Also, make sure to keep an open mind. You never know what a person has to offer you.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The only bad questions are the ones not asked. If there is a struggle in learning, ask any and everything that will lead to a better understanding.
