I found that I'm really good at math, so I would help my friends who are struggling with math before tests or exams to do an overall review and solve some challenging problems.

as a tutor I don't want to waste the student's time so I'll get right into the problems.
Usually they are my relatives or my friends, which means I know them for a while. But I think I'll be able to work with the new students because I used to do volunteer work with children I don't know.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Usually a difficult problem involves some kind of confusion. If the student can't tell what's the confusion, maybe try to think of some examples so I know what's the key problem. Also bad grade could be a result of a bad study habit, which is different with confusion about the class material.
