About Jennifer

I have tutored or taught 2nd through College Algebra.

I have been in the Education field for 4 years

I have a Degree in Mathematics

I have tutored a College Algebra student who failed the course twice, and received a B after my services.

I will give a pretest to identify the learning goals that need extra help

I can create or find resources that will target your needs

I know the state standards that are on the Florida Standardized Assessment

I enjoy working with students and showing the multiple different mehods that students can solve a problem. Seeing students succeed after learning a new method or seeing the connection between the different math strategies is very rewarding!

I started tutoring math in Highschool to achieve my community service hours. I enjoyed teaching the math and seeing students succeed so much I purposely searched for a college with a good College of Education Program.

1. Figure out what content the students is working in and give a pre-test to identify the students weak spots.

2. Create learning goals based off of the students needs that come from State Standards

3. Teach students through different methods, to find which method works best (Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing).

I have tutored students ranging from 2nd grade to College Algebra. I have tutored a student who failed College Algebra twice, but once I tutored him he received a B as a final grade.

*Make sure that you inform the teacher what area you want to work on.

*Be honest and openly communicate your understanding of the topic.

*Hire someone who has experience in Teaching because it is a skill in its own. Just because people know the material, does not mean they will be able to explain it well or even create/find the right resources to help you learn.

I had a student towards the end of the year tell me "I was never good at math or enjoyed it until this year." I feel like this statement shows that students who THINK they are not good at math or cannot do it, are wrong and just need some more time and/or a new way to learn it. Once students learn the material, they actually tend to enjoy it because lets be honest, who doesn't enjoy success after working hard for it?

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
* What struggles have you had in the classroom?

*How long has it been since  you have not been fully comprehending the material?

*What is the best way(s) you enjoy to learn-Visual, Auditorial, and/or Reading/Writing?
