About John
Many students may need or want assistance with their math in school. Since teachers in school now teach math in a completely different way than parents, grandparents, or others who want to assist were taught (when they were in school), they are often at a loss to help their children. I can assist students with common core math and the various methods they must know for multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction.
I have several years experience tutoring people of all ages in math and enjoy tutoring. Besides tutoring K-12 in common core (Math I, II, III, & IV), pre-algebra, pre-calculus, algebra I & II, geometry, and trigonometry; I also tutor high school calculus, AP math classes and IB math classes; and college students up through calculus III.
I live in Clayton and meet with students in libraries, other public places, or homes. I look forward hearing from you.
I enjoy the many moments when students gain the confidence and proficiency to understand mathematical concepts. My goal is not necessarily to make someone love math (like I do), but to bring them to the place where they meet their own goals, be it better grades or passing a class that they "have to take."

I work closely with students to give realistic reasons and/or examples of how they actually use math in their life and 'translate' the mathematical language into everyday words and terms they can understand. I also like to communicate with their teachers to make sure I'm using the same technologies and methods to solve problems.
