About Emily

I have 8 years of professional classroom experience ranging from 7th-12th grade. I have taught classes including 7th-grade math, 8th-grade math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Advanced Functions and Modeling (AFM). My students exceeded their expected growth on standardized tests

I have experience with one-on-one tutoring for middle school, high school, and college-aged students in math. Students I have tutored have improved their grades as well as their confidence in their mathematical abilities.

I enjoy finding meaningful and unique approaches to help students learn, appreciate, and become confident in their math and problem-solving skills.

I've always wanted to teach and to help others, as long as I can remember. I majored in Mathematics and Education in college and began teaching upon graduation.

I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics and education, I have 8 years of experience teaching math at the middle school and high school levels.

About the lesson

I like to meet with the student (and the parent, if applicable) to discuss the needs and wants. If the student needs homework help, or help with a specific class, I like to dive right into their current assignments and provide extra practice problems as needed to ensure confidence and mastery.

If a student wants to catch up/review/get ahead over the summer, I like to talk about their goals, give an informal assessment to see what we need to work on, and plan topics and practice activities from there.

I have tutored students with disabilities, including the autism spectrum. I have taught in both public and private schools in inclusive regular education classrooms. I also have experience teaching AIG and Honors classes.
