About Danjoseph

Hello there! I have tutored people in the past and have led discussion sessions for mathematics college courses from calculus I up to linear algebra. I like to keep my mind sharp and I love seeing people get to know and appreciate math as I do.

I started tutoring when I was in high school. I had decent grades and some family friends knew about it. The rest is history.

I have a doctorate in mathematics and currently tutor on the side.

About the lesson

I get to know them first! I want to know their motivations and use said motivations to help me help them.

I do 1-on-1 tutoring with mainly high schoolers, but I have also tutored middle schoolers and adults trying to return to school.

You never know if you click together unless you give them a shot first. In anime, there is this thing called the 3-episode rule, where you watch the first 3 episodes to get a feel for the show before committing. The same could be applied to tutors.

Getting a random text from current/former students telling me how well they did with a recent test or finishing their course strong always makes my day.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should try to make their questions as concrete and specific as possible. Teachers are not omniscient: they won't know what you need and how to remedy your needs unless you're clear about them.
