About Daphne

I started teaching students that were behind in summer school at a local elementary school and expanded my tutoring from there.

I graduated a private college prepatory high school with a 4.0 GPA and a backround of all honors or AP math courses. I have successfully finished all of my required math courses with a A- or above. My background in tutoring starts at the meer age of 6, when I started Kumon, I have since become an independent private math tutor for highschool and elementary students.

About the lesson

For every student I like to figure out their learning style. In order to do so, I ask them a few questions about what comes easily to them in the subject or in other things they do in their day to day life. After gaining that information, I will apply a tutoring strategy to the way in which they learn. For example, by example, walking through problems, analagies, word problems, etc.

I have worked with students that do not speak english as their first language, and I have worked with students that are studying in college or for the SAT's.

I would advise each student to overemphasize the concepts that they are not fully understanding. This makes it easier to understand which part of the concept needs to be practiced the most. Then, the student will be able to learn more effectively and efficiently.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think that some students dont even know what they dont understand - and thats okay. If a student is just lost, bring in a a few problems and we will start from the bottom and go up from there. If the student would be able to send me a few problems so I can get a gist of what they are learning, that would be ideal.
