About Dorothy

I've worked as a tutor for several years, primarily working with high-support-needs students but also with low-support-needs or neurotypical students. I approach every new concept with the goal of being able to teach it to another person, which has given me plenty of experience in identifying areas of understanding that are lacking and how to fill them. I'm familiar with how to connect with students who aren't interested in the material, and how to ensure that they learn what they need to without growing to resent the subject. I am currently a college student, so I am constantly renewing my knowledge of the subjects I'm able to tutor, and constantly practicing tutoring with my peers. I'm able to schedule recurring sessions for up to three months at a time, or longer if they're outside of normal school hours. I pride myself on my ability to connect with others, and I hope you will recognize the value of that skill. I'm always open to feedback, whatever the source, and I'm always on the lookout for new ways of teaching.
