About Micaela

I am a patient and creative teacher who will go over any topic you need as many times as you need.

I have been a teacher for years working in a resource classroom. I am the support system and built in tutor for students who are struggling. My favorite part is seeing the lightbulb go off in a students brain once they fully understand a concept!

I have been assisting in a classroom since I was in 9th grade. Working with students is my passion! I finally starting working professionally 4 years ago.

About the lesson

1. Get to know their learning style (visual, oral, auditory, songs/patterns, hands on, etc)

2. Come up with a tentative plan/schedule

3. Follow up often

I usually work with behaviorally challenged students or students with learning challenges. Ranging from non verbal to just having attention struggles. While I specialize in IEP work, I am able to teach most students.

I would look for a teacher that you get along with outside of learning. Because with that connection, the learning becomes easier.

This past school year has been hard for both students and for the teachers. I have been working online most of the year, and every single one of my students passed school. It was amazing watching the hard work they put in, even with the circumstances.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student needs to think about their strengths and goals, so that the teacher can build off their strengths. It is also important to communicate as much as possible, and not worry about "offending" the teacher if you don't understand something. It is our job to come up with a different way, if one way hasn't worked.
