About Axel

Hello! My name is Axel Cramer, and I’m the founder of the EvoLearn Math Academy. I hold a B.A. in Mathematics from UC Berkeley (2015), and an MBA from UCLA Anderson (2020). The following are few things that will differentiate our learning journey together from what you will get with 99.9% of other math coaches. I look forward to working with you!

1) 24/7 UNLIMITED ACCESS TO ME. Yes, this means that we can meet whenever you need, and for as long as it takes. Why? Learning doesn’t happen in a one hour window once per week, just in a classroom or at a desk in front of a computer. It happens all the time, everywhere. That’s why I charge a FLAT MONTHLY FEE for unlimited coaching (pricing info below), and not by the hour. So if you’re sitting on the subway and all of a sudden have a breakthrough on a problem you want to share with me, but need help thinking about where to go next, I’m there at your fingertips. Or if you need a 3-hour review session buddy, I’m here too.

2) ACCESS THE ENTIRE EVOLEARN MATH ACADEMY SUITE of tools and products. This includes the EvoLearn Slack Community, which is a desktop and mobile messaging platform used by the world’s top companies to communicate. In this way, you can not only ask me questions, but you will have the opportunity to co-learn with peers, mentors, and mentees, which is all part of a holistic learning process. We can Zoom anytime, anywhere with the click of a button, or share media and photos together. Additionally, you gain access to the EvoLearn Library of Paths & Principles, our tool for helping guide you to the next path on your learning journey.

3) You will gain A DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR INTENTION and motivation for doing mathematics, and clearly see how your present mathematical learning fits into your other school/career/life interests. Your intention is the driving force behind your learning, and continuously stay in touch with it is a huge key enjoying the process and, as a side effect, achieving your goals and beyond. I CAN PROMISE THIS because I hold a broad perspective on how mathematics can fit into our lives. This is because I hold a broad range of life experiences, all of which are deeply connected with my mathematical learning journey, including graduating from the world’s #1 mathematics institution, UC Berkeley, with a degree in Pure Mathematics, working on multiple tech startups and a top Management Consulting firms, founding and exiting a successful social enterprise (thoughtlounge.org), traveling the world, playing in bands, doing most sports (surfing, climbing, tennis, ultramarathon running, soccer, football,...), and continuing to have wonderful relationships with friends and my fiancée. Although the primary lens through which you learn might not be math, none of what you learn needs to be disconnected. With my broad range of experiences in life, as well as in coaching mathematics, I can promise that you will clarify and stay intimately in touch with your intention, which will drive us to achieve your goals and beyond.

4) You get an entire theory of learning backed by countless hours of PHD-LEVEL RESEARCH AS THE POWERHOUSE BEHIND YOUR EDUCATION. EvoLearn was founded on the value that learning is one of those meaning-of-life-type-things. I work with all learners to meet their financial needs. Without any financial aid, I charge $750 PER MONTH for all services mentioned above, including unlimited coaching.

I hold a B.A. in Mathematics from UC Berkeley, the #1 rated institution for mathematics in the world. This includes, Algebra, Calculus, Real Analysis, Geometry, Number Theory, Complex Analysis, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Incompleteness and Undecidability results, and much more.

Beyond my knowledge of pure mathematics, I hold deep f pedagogical experience through my work at Thought Lounge, an education startup, which I worked in for 7 years prior to getting my MBA at UCLA Anderson ('20).

About the lesson

The typical process for working with a new student is to jump right into their intentions for the learning experience. Why did you really hire me? Do you need a good grade? Do you need to learn this material deeply to be able to excel in another class or job? Are you interested in developing yourself as a learner across many principles of learning, but through the specific lens of mathematics? Whatever the intention is of the learner, we lay them out on the table, and then connect the dots to see none of their intentions as different from one another. We then assess where they are at in achieving those goals, and develop a strategy to get there. On Day 1, the learner is already taking action by working problems or exploring inspirational concepts, to drive them toward their goals.

I've worked with learners from 5 to 45 years old.

Look for someone who will see learning mathematics as part of your larger learning journey. In this way, you will not only get the grade you want, but also will grow as a learner in ways that will help you in other parts of life that are important to you.

Details

I work with learners based on their financial needs. Without considering special circumstances, for individual coaching I charge $100/hr, $50/hr more per learner in group lessons (e.g. $150 for a 2-person lesson).

Alternatively, you can opt to pay a flat fee of $750/mth for access to the EvoLearn Slack Community, which includes 24/7 ACCESS to and UNLIMITED COACHING from AxeL. Additionally, there are channels (different forums) for each mathematical subject, and more, enabling learners of the EvoLearn Community to co-learn, and Axel to group students to enhance learning.
