About Liliana
Hi! I'm Liliana, I am a student at the Universtify of Michigan Ann Arbor, and I'm currently on a pre-law track. During high school, I was at the top of my class (14th of 419 to be exact) and I loved math. In my math classes, I always excelled, but what made me special was that I also have the ability to teach math. In high school, I discovered the "why" behind many disinterests, and even loathings of math. It was simply a lack of understanding.
I sat and wondered why so many students have a lack of understanding in math as opposed to all other subjects, when I realized that it is often the result of inadequate teaching. Introductory level math teachers (elementary, middle school, and beginner algebra) set up their students' mathmatical relationships forever. When teachers don't teach for understanding, and move faster than their students can keep up with, we as students find math to become harder to understand.
My tutoring is different than many because I focus on basic math skills like arithmetic, fractions, and introductory algebra. When I tutor students, I teach for mastery of the basics in order to ensure the ability to understand more complex concepts. I help with the parts of math that are skipped over and then are expected to know.
If your student is struggling in introductory math (elementary through Algebra 1), I would be honored in helping them learn to master the concepts they are studying. I tutor for the impact, not the price, so anybody who needs help can receive it.

I am very open to introductions, however I imagine it would be best to do a quick virtual meeting with the student and/or parent about what is needed from me as a source of aid. What topics are being covered in class, what in particular the student struggles with, and anything else they would like me to know. Then, we would work out what our meetings would look like from then on, and start right away!
