About Katherine

My name is Katherine and I’m offering tutoring in English, French and Math!

I recently graduated from the University of Virginia with a major in French Language and on a general pre-medical school course path. I have returned to school for a masters in health sciences this fall 2020.

I worked for two years as an English as a second language teacher in primary schools in France.

I have worked as tutor in math, science, English, and French since 2012.

English:

I offer my services in a range of areas including accent improvement, grammar explanation, introductory language tools, elevated academic writing review and discussion, and general conversation practice. I like to have fun with language learning but can also offer more in depth studies if you prefer.

I hope to help you on your journey to improving English!

English is my native language. My accent is American from the East Coast. I’m from Washington D.C. which is the capital of the USA.

I hope to hear from you to practice your English!

Math:

I offer general tutoring services for all age ranges of students and subject areas. I studied math at an accelerated pace throughout school and completed courses in calculus I and II, multivariable calculus, and biostatistics at the university level.

I have worked as a Math tutor since 2012 helping students in middle school, high school, and college/university.

French:

I offer basic language courses in French for beginners. I have worked as a language teacher for 2 years and as a tutor since 2012.

I began learning French at the age of 5 in 2001. I continued my studies to university and received my Bachelors in French Language and Literature from the University of Virginia. I studied at Sciences Politiques in Lyon during the summer of 2016. I worked as an intern in the Mairie de Caen in the summer of 2017. I taught English as a second language in primary schools in France from October 2018-April 2020. I am currently B2/C1 in French.

I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels. I enjoy the challenge of getting to know each student's unique personality and their strengths and abilities. It’s exciting and rewarding when the student progresses in their own education and understanding because of the work we’ve done together!

Mathematics lessons offered by Katherine are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Alexandria. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
