About Tami
The style of self-defense we teach is Shaolin Kemp Kung fu, and its roots go back to Shaolin Temple boxing. Our style combines the best of different styles to create a system that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Kempo is well known for multiple hand strikes and soft and hard principles of self-defense. The combination of linear and circular movements has been a perfect complement to the karate aspects of our style. Our school features Kempo from day one of our training and is featured throughout the curriculum.
Shaolin is revered throughout the world for its influence on martial arts. The study of the Five Animals of Shaolin: Tiger, Dragon, Leopard, Crane and Snake are central to the training in our school. The mental and physical aspects as well as the spirit and essence of each animal is studied to produce a well-rounded student. The Shaolin influence can be seen throughout the style, the more advanced and Black belt forms and techniques are heavier with the influence.

The studio offers group and private lessons to adults and children starting at age 6.
Before attending classes, all students are required to complete an introductory lesson.
Intro lessons are one on one and are designed to introduce the student to the basics.
These lessons prepare a student to participate in the group and allow the instructor to build a rapport with each student.
