About Rick

"The Pit" is my garage but it contains everything you need in order to learn Brazilian Jiujitsu which can get you in the best shape of your life. I also offer personal training, fundamental Boxing and Muay Thai lessons. Gym contains clean grappling mats, Olympic weights, kettle bells, Truck tire, pull-up/ dip bar, Heavy bag boxing gloves and more. If your willing to learn something new, work hard and are looking to get in phenomenal shape, we can do it!

Teaching people how to defend themselves while also getting them in great shape is priority number one! I just love to see their self confidence grow as they learn something new that could actually save their life.

I started training NOGI grappling, Boxing, Muay Thai and Kali in 2002, then transitioned to primarily Gi training in 2013. Started teaching as a Blue belt and loved seeing people get in shape while learning a valuable skill.

I am 1 of only 2 BJJ Black Belts under Marcus Hicks at HicksMMA in Carrollton, Tx. I have also trained Boxing, Muay Thai, Kali/Escrima under Eric Mattingly, Ron Browning and Raymond Crow. Earlier in life, I played college baseball at NEO A&M and have over 30 years of strength and conditioning experience.

About the lesson

First and foremost, I want to know my clients specific goals in order to customize their experience. Then we go to work to achieve them. Private Lessons mainly in Brazilian Jiujitsu but also offering fundamental Boxing/Muay Thai and Personal Training

(30 minutes minimum)

Mainly students who are new to Brazilian Jiujitsu that are looking for self defense and sport related Jiujitsu. Also, people that just want to get in phenomenal shape while at the same time learning something that could possibly save their life.

Strongly consider a coach's experience, training and who trained them. Lineage matters. Look for a coach that actually takes a personal interest in you getting better. I learned that from the best.

Receiving my Black Belt from my coach Marcus Hicks. Attending BJJ tournaments to coach and root for our competitors at HicksMMA.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Always disclose any and all injuries that you've had in the past so the coach can account for them and adjust the training. Explain your goals to your coach and ask if they can help you achieve them.
