About Alexis

I have been practicing percussion for 8 years now and will continue to going forward. I have competed in multiple music competitions and have been a leader among my peers for multiple years. Percussion is something I have enjoyed for most of my life and now I want to share it with those who don't have access to the instruments I did growing up. My tutoring segment is meant to teach people the art of Percussion using what they already have available, while also expanding their knowledge

I enjoy seeing the growth that occurs in my students musical capabilities. I have had students who started off with no knowledge of percussion, and seeing them learn to interact with percussion's many forms and take joy in it is rewarding. I have also had students who are experienced with percussion grow in their capabilities with help from my tutoring and it is wonderful to see their love for music grow.

My education includes general teachings from 4th-12th grade and specialized percussion class for 3 years in between that time. Also, I participated in Marching band as a section leader of the front ensemble for 2 years. I currently perform with my college and take private lessons for percussion as well.

About the lesson

When I first meet a new student, I like to understand their current knowledge of percussion and what they want to accomplish. After understanding where they want to go, I will set out a plan for how to get them there. If they don't have a specific goal, we will work on basics so they can become well-rounded in the feild of percussion.

I have worked with adolescents and young adults.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
In my experience, it works best if the student can find a goal to achieve. They should ask themselves questions such as, "what do I want to accomplish by taking these sessions?" By asking themselves this, it will give us a starting point for our sessions.
