About Laura
A little about myself... I am 55 years old, and have learned many of life's lessons. I graduated from the University of SC with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I also earned two Associates degrees from Horry Georgetown Technical College, one in Business Administration and the other in Accounting. Additionally, I have owned and operated two successful businesses; a Wedding Design Shop, and a Mortgage office. Prior to my business ownership, I worked for JPMorgan Chase as a mortgage underwriter.

I make it a priority, as a tutor, to create an atmosphere of productive and cooperative learning. I am of the belief that an active discourse having an active dialogue and engaging in real-life exercises is the most effective route to disseminate information. My teaching is far from limited to lectures, I see the potential of my students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and active contributors to the learning process.
Further, I make it my mission to adapt my approach to every student's need and how they learn best. I take special attention to identify their strengths, discern their weak points as scholars, and discover where their passion lies.
To execute these teaching strategies effectively, I devote a lot of time during and after class to giving each student priceless advice and constructive criticism. Although I expect a lot from my students, my methods cultivate a supportive and understanding atmosphere where growth is attainable.
My hope as your tutor is not just to transfer knowledge to you, but to inspire and empower you towards the fulfillment of your dreams.
