Spending time with them to understand what their goals are, how they learn, and ways to have fun.
I have worked with ones as young as 4 to adults, and those with disabilities, and fears. I do not discriminate. Having had some injuries myself, I have learned a few tricks.
Be upfront and honest. Ask lots of questions, there is never a "stupid question". Watch them work with other students and watch how they handle a horse.
Freestyle reining, working cow, and the classes that are availabe for those with disablities.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is your goal, how much time are you "really" willing to put into it.

Heidi is an amazing coach. She was my daughters 4h leader. She was firm, yet kind. If the communication wasn't working at first, she would try another route ( both with my daughter, and with her horse). Heidi was extremely caring and helpful all the way around. I highly recommend her.
Heidi is very Knowledgeable about all types of disciplines of riding and showing horses. She is very good at teaching and understanding what each individual riders abilities and level is. Highly recommend her!!

Details
Pricing for lessons depends on the discipline and if it is a private or group. As for being a clinician or a judge depends on the discipline and if you are looking a ½ day or more. Horse show depends on the job for instance if you are looking for a show secretary, I charge different than being a show manager. I do discount and have volunteered for nonprofit organizations (4H, FFA)
