About LISA
I am very passionate about helping students especially a student that needs a little more attention than some. I know what it's like to not grasp things as quick as some of the other students. It can be a little embarrassing. So that student may act as if they understands they aren't singled out. If they had just a little bit of one on one they would catch it. But they don't speak up about it because they don't want to be singled out. I was that student type.. When this happens we end up really falling behind and then we end up not making the passing grade and then it's a downward spiral for some. I feel like that if we have the ability to have someone spend a few extra minutes helping to understand the issue or topic then it's a win win. The student doesn't fall behind and even more they will not feel embarrassed or less than their peers.

I like to spend a few minutes getting to know each other. Ask questions about goals and hobbies. Then allow the student to ask me a few questions to kind of break the ice and earn each other's trust. Then explain what I expect to display with our sessions and what I expect from the student. Then have them explain what they expect from me and what they expect to get out of our sessions.
