About Cody
I like to think that I'm pretty knowledgeable in my content area, but I am also not afraid to do additional research if I am lacking in any particular area. I also enjoy working on specialized plans for each type of student that comes to me in my classroom as it allows for a better communication and an easier experience for the students.
I love the "aha!" moments. I live for students being able to complete a tough challenge that they had issues with previously, and have a chance to be able to apply that knowledge. I know that my classroom is not where a student's learning ends, but I enjoy being a stepping stone on their journey!
I began as a substitute teacher, but grew to love education!
I have a history degree, and I am currently in my sixth year of teaching.

First, I like to get an understanding of the student's needs and what they require of me. Second, I need to know strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.
From there, I can work on a plan of attack for the content or skills that are necessary for the student to become successful.
In the past 6 years of being a full-time teacher, I have gotten to know just about all sorts of students! I've worked with students with various strengths in history, and fully believe that everyone has a chance to do well.
Look for a teacher that you can get along with, and one that you think will help you polish your strengths while building up areas that you feel are weak.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would ask about background, as well as what that teacher is best at. That should give students enough info to hopefully find common ground and begin the learning process.
