About Justine
At my first church job, I was both asked to come in and work with the students in the aftercare program, and to teach guitar to an eleven-year-old member of the church. That was where I started.
I hold a B.A. in music from McDaniel College and an M.M. in conducting and composition from Butler University. I've been teaching for about six years, in private, classroom, and small group settings.

We start playing the instrument within the first five minutes of the lesson. We start by exploring the instrument--how to make sounds on it, how it sounds, and so on--and then by starting to understand music notation in its simplest form. Most new students go through the same basic lesson, but by seeing how quickly they learn things, and how they react to new information, I get a very good sense of their learning style and speed.
