Larry has been doing guitar lessons for our boys for a few years. He relates well with our teens and their song choices. They enjoy their lessons and have learned a lot. Larry is very friendly and we love that he comes to the house for lessons -he made the transition to zoom lessons during Covid and has made it work seamlessly.

My son Gabe received his first guitar for his 7th birthday. After seeing several recommendations for Larry, I reached out to see if he'd work with a young student. They started playing really cool music right away, which really helped Gabe enjoy playing and encouraged him to practice regularly. When we were ready to upgrade to an electric guitar the following Christmas, Larry went out of his way to not only recommend a guitar, but help set us up with a package that included everything we'd need to go with it. We are coming up on my son's 10th birthday, and we've been so happy with Larry all this time. It's amazing to hear Gabe play- he has come a long way, and really enjoys the instrument! We love Larry's flexibility with lessons, appreciated his pivot to online lessons when the pandemic hit, and especially love how he interacts with our son as just another musician, and doesn't treat him like a baby. Larry provided guitar lessons for our 15 year old daughter who wanted to graduate from YouTube instruction to in-person instruction. Larry was a perfect fit, was a great teacher, and she still enjoys guitar to this day.

Larry has been our family’s guitar instructor for over 12 years. Larry started w my son, Ely, when Ely was 7 years old. Today Ely is in the Honors music program at Appalachian State, has been in multiple local bands, recorded multiple albums and EP’s and won the “30 seconds to shred” competition at Carolina Rebellion’s 3-day metal fest. Ely’s younger brother Jackson, followed in Ely’s footsteps and has also been taking lessons for over 10 years. Jackson is equally as accomplished as his brother and is now mixing/editing his own tracks and playing all instruments. My older daughter also took lessons for many years w Larry and she now plays guitar, piano and went to NC School of the Arts and UNC Chapel Hill for voice/opera. So I know I am bragging on my kids but it is all because of Larry and his dedication to teaching guitar and music. Larry is patient, relatable to kids of any age and open to all types of music. He is a trusted mentor to my kids and has helped w instrument selection, instrument repair, and is really the “total package” if you want a great experience learning the guitar. I highly recommend anyone that is considering music lessons to give Larry a try. He will be the last teacher you will ever hire to learn the guitar.

Mr. Larry is a fantastic guitar teacher. Our son started with him when he was only seven and has really enjoyed his lessons, both in person and virtual. Larry is extremely patient and focuses on our sons musical interests while teaching proper guitar skills. He is very positive and it is clear he wants the kids to have fun while learning. He provides a weekly summary with each lesson and recommendations for practice. We would highly recommend Larry to anyone looking for a guitar teacher!

Larry is an awesome musician AND has the ability to bring his extensive knowledge down to a beginner’s level so that they can understand the basics and well as progress the advanced student to a higher level. Larry adapts the lessons to the students’ musical interests and helps develop their love for all genres. Very punctual and professional too.

Larry taught my son for over two years, and my son enjoyed it thoroughly until high school sports came into play which took over his time! Larry always took the time to teach my son whatever it was he was interested in and at the time a lot of Linkin Park lol! Larry taught with enthusiasm and you could tell he just wants the kids to have fun!! Bonus for me it was like having a mini concert in my house every week!!

Larry Burlison’s guitar lessons have been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The skills I have learned have been invaluable and it’s entirely thanks to Mr Larry. He not only teaches you how to play guitar, he gives you a newfound love for music. Because of Mr Larry I have gotten to live out some of my wildest dreams like playing at the Ritz and the main stage at Cats Cradle.
