About William

My teaching approach: Laid back, not a taskmaster but I do expect students to take the lessons seriously and practice regularly. My influences are: Les Paul, Tommy Emmanuel, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, The Beatles. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: Newport News, VA Guitar Techniques: Guidance In Equipment Selection, Recording and Production, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Vocal Accompaniment Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: Discuss the instrument's features, how to treat it. Let them know what to expect as far as any physical discomforts as a guitarist, i.e. sore fingers, callus development, dangers of poor posture as well as that of a poor quality instrument. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: I keep my students engaged! The reason they began their lessons is very important to me and I always circle back to what their musical goal might be -- for now as well as long-term. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Enthusiastic, well-rested, practices daily.
