About Camilla

Hello! I have been teaching students ages 4-adult piano, guitar, composition/songwriting, and theory for 10 years, and I'm looking forward to working with you.

As a full-time professional musician, teaching is one of my greatest passions and an essential part of my career. When I'm not helping student achieve their goals, you can find me performing, managing, and songwriting for a variety of bands, from indie rock to jazz.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in jazz piano and a Master's degree in jazz composition from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.

I love helping students achieve their goals and become the musicians they want to be. Please reach out to me with any questions, I am excited to work with you!

I began teaching during college, working with young piano students. Since then, I have expanded my studio to include working with anyone ages 4-adult and also offer guitar, composition/songwriting, and theory in addition to piano. During my time at DU I was also a Graduate Teaching Assistant and have experience teaching lessons, classes, and ensembles at the collegiate level.

Additionally, I have spent time as a faculty member with the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts teaching ensembles, classes, and summer camps.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Piano and a Master's degree in Jazz Composition from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.

About the lesson

Upon meeting a new student, I first like to get a sense of your goals and musical influences. We'll spend the first bit of our lesson chatting about these things, so that I can make sure I'm the right teacher for you. After this conversation, I love to get started by jumping in and playing something! Whether you're brand new or super comfortable with your instrument, I always want the focus to be the joy of making music.

I have worked with students of all ages from 4-adult.

My biggest advice is to find a teacher who always keeps your musical goals at the forefront and is willing to hear your feedback. I love when students let me know if the way I'm explaining something isn't quite making sense, and adjust my teaching style to the best of my ability. I also always want to be helping students towards their personal musical goals - my job is to help you become the musician that YOU want to be!

One recent event I am fond of was performing with a brand new band I'm in called Passiflora at Nocturne. This band performs music from Brazil, and I'm grateful to be playing guitar and singing in Portugese with these amazing musicians (Annie Booth, Marion Powers, Bijoux Barbosa, and Dru Heller).

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should consider their goals, their level of seriousness and committment to learning, and how much time they think they'll be able to dedicate to praciticing. For me, I love when students communicate their needs so that we're on the same page.
