About Raphael
Hi there, what makes my teaching services stand out is that I teach nearly all styles of the guitar including rock, blues, metal, country, jazz, and classical. My main emphasis is in classical guitar, but I am more than happy to teach other styles since I started off as a rock guitarist and eventually grew into the other genres for this highly versatile instrument. I teach younger students at CB Music Studios in Roseville, but can also teach privately at students' homes if you like.
Music is more than just a hobby, it's a passion that stays with you for life. The more you get better at it, the more you fun you will have learning more and more, and it is a never ending road of constantly getting better. I believe that we never stop progressing, there's always room for improvement even with the most talented of individuals. It is my job to help you along your musical journey, either for professional reasons or simply for musical leisure.
Started teaching students from guitar class during high school.
I've been learning the way of the classcal guitar for 4 years, spent two years at CSUN studying under John Dearman (LAGQ member and known worldwide) getting by Bachelor's of Music, and now currently at CSUS studying with Richard Savino (very accomplished performer of baroque music) to finish my BM. I've attended the CSU Summer Arts Course for Classical guitar in 2015 and had masterclasses with Roland Dyens, Eliot Fisk, and Scott Tennant. In 2016, I went to the annual Iserlohn Guitar Festival and a guitar festival in Mende, France taught by the master guitar pedagogue Judicael Perroy. This experiences have helped me grow tremendously in this field, through masterclasses, concerts, and lessons. When I was attending CSUN, I had masterclasses with Jason Vieux, David Russell, and William Kanengiser. In 2018, I went to Granada, Spain for 3 weeks during the CSU Summer Arts Course for La Guitarra de Espanola to study with Pepe Romero, Vincente Coves, and the LAGQ.I am currently studying my fourth year of Classical Guitar Performance at Sacramento State, and I've been studying classical guitar intensily for the past 4 years at many different parts of the world including Germany, France, and Japan from world-class artists including Scott Tennant, Roland Dyens, Eliot Fisk, David Russell, Johannes Moeller and Jason Vieux. I'm mainly suited for teaching classical players since it is what I am currently studying, however I'm willing to teach all I know about acoustic and electric guitar as well (started off playing acoustic and electric when I was 10, currently 22). I am huge advocate for all styles of the guitar, and am well versed in most styles such as rock, blues, metal, jazz, country, and classical.

The methods through which I teach are through a book, hands-on learning, and visual learning by watching videos of good performers etc. The first lesson will mainly be about getting to the student better, and seeing what level he or she is currently at, and what goals are in mind... Nonetheless the first lesson will highly depend on the circumstances of the student; if he or she has never played guitar before, we will primarily work on holding the guitar and getting comfortable with the instrument. More advanced students can improvise during our first lesson, if possible.

Raphael is a phenominal teacher. He is theory based and is comprehensive, even for someone like me, who had struggled with learning any bit of theory. Raphael is also flexible with what he teaches, as you can bring anything in and he'll help you learn it, while also giving you pieces that he recommends that develop techniques. Including a focus on organization, Raphael is the most productive and efficient music teacher i've had.
