About Lynda

Hello! After working as an editor in the educational publishing industry for nearly 20 years, I wanted to do something that made a difference. I decided to complete my elementary education certification.

Working as a third-grade teacher has been the most rewarding experience of my life. I love seeing how excited my students get when they achieve something they thought impossible - like mastering their multiplication facts.

I am certified by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to teach all subjects in grades 1-6.

I have one year experience as a Title IX teacher, working specifically with students who are struggling with reading. I am currently teaching third-grade in the Missouri public school system.

I absolutely love being a teacher. I have a vested interest in every child who I teach. Seeing them move on through upper-grades and be successful makes me feel as though I've actually achieved something.

About the lesson

The first thing I like to do when working with a young student is talk with the parents. Why have you chosen tutoring? What are your goals for your child? What are your child's strengths and weaknesses in the classroom?

I also like to get to know the student a little bit and find out about their learning style and interests. I try to incorporate things they are interested in throughout the lessons to help keep them engaged.

I have worked as a Title IX teacher, as a private educator for a special needs student, and with gifted students.
