About Alan

Alan Scheer has been employed at Steele Canyon since January of 1998. He began working in outside guest services then moved into the golf shop in 2001 and handled member events, group outings and corporate tournaments before becoming Head Golf Professional in 2013.

As the Head Golf Professional for Steele Canyon Alan coordinates charity and group outings, aids in golf shop merchandising, and provides lessons for golfers looking to improve their game. He is deeply rooted in the San Diego area graduating from Monte Vista High School and then UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Graphics. During his education Alan also played golf at the collegiate level and maintained a 73.5 stroke average. He is a 2-time U.S. Amateur participant at Oakmont CC in 2003 and Merion CC in 2005, before turning Professional in 2006 and playing on the A.G. Spanos Tour for 1 year. After experiencing the mini-tour lifestyle and PGA Tour Qualifying School he then committed himself full time to teaching and working at Steele Canyon.

I grew up playing the game of golf and have a passion for it. It is great to share that with my students and see them develop.

PGA Class A

10+ years of teaching

Amateurs, juniors, college athletes, professionals, all can learn more

About the lesson

I enjoy working with a variety of students and am here to help them enjoy the game of golf more. Every student's swing is unique, there is not one way to swing the club, I start with the basic principles and we go from there.

Amateurs, juniors, ladies, college athletes, professionals

Hire a PGA Professional. Everyone has a "tip" for you and your golf swing. Sometimes short term gain may be more detrimental in the long term.

We recently had a wounded warriors day where several instructors worked with the military and gave them instruction on the range and then played a few holes with them. Everyone took something away from the experience.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Always understand your abilities. If you have any injuries or physical limitations you might not be able to hit it 300 yards, but we can get you hitting it consistently. Also if you are not going to get out and practice what you learn on your own then it could be a constant struggle.
