About Kylie

In my online flute studio I work with students of all ages from beginner to advanced levels. I work to cater to each students' needs based on their own individual learning styles. I teach not only the art of playing the flute, but the history and theory of the music my students will perform. I am a graduate of Webster University with a degree in Instrumental Performance and I have been teaching flute lessons for over 4 years. As an alumna of the Kansas City Youth Symphony, St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, and several collegiate level ensembles, I have gained knowledge and skills that I can pass on to my students, to help them succeed in their own musical ventures.

I began teaching flute lessons as a high school student to students in years below my own. I had the opportunity to be a cadet teacher in my final year of high school, and worked with 6th grade, beginner students on all instruments.

I have a Bachelor's in Instrumental Performance with an emphasis in Flute from Webster University.

About the lesson

Our first lesson is always an assessment. I ask students to play several different excerpts to get an idea of their playing level, so I can choose repertoire that will best fit their abilities. I always discuss with my students their goals for their playing. Using their goals, I will cater my teaching style to their needs.

I have worked with students age 11-25, of all experience levels.

Always hire a teacher that adapts to your individual learning style. Never work with someone that only has one method of teaching across their students. It is important to have a teacher that understands how you learn, so they can help you advance in the best way for you.
