About Jannice

Hi, my name is Jannice. I am a native English speaker from the USA. I have a Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management as well as my TEFL certification. My TEFL certification allows me to teach English to non-native English speakers online and around the world. I enjoy helping other naturally and I would be delighted to assist you with your goals today.

The most memorable experiences are those that involved me helping others. I am a person who enjoys curating an experience for everyone. I know learning can be difficult and I can relate, this is why I decided to help others by teaching. I enjoy seeing others succeed and achieve their long and short-term goals. I enjoy meeting other from different walks of life and getting to know others for who they are and who they want to be professionally.

I began teaching in China, 2018. I had an internship at a 5-star luxury hotel in Chengdu, China. I traded my English language skills for local Mandarin lessons. This added to the Mandarin classes I had been taking at Sichuan University. I enjoyed teaching then and I decided to pursue a full-time teaching career now. Since the pandemic, my hospitality backgorund did not gaurantee suitable means for a family. I studied for 11-weeks to become TEFL certified this past April. After my 170 hour study and practicum, I realized teaching is what I really enjoy. In November, I will be studying for my English teaching license in Hawaii.

I have a TQUK Level 5 TEFL Certification. I have been teaching English to non-native English speakers for approximately 2 years. I have recently pursued a full-time career in teaching English and will be applying for my state license to teach in, publics schools; private schools; around the USA and abroad.

About the lesson

When it comes to working with a new student, I try to get to know their likes and dislikes. I am also able to gauge what they need help with after discussing their past experiences; this would allow me to customize lessons for individual students.

I have worked with all level students from Beginner- C1/C2 English proficiencies. I have worked with children, young adults/ adults. The majority of my students are from Brazil, Asia and non-native English students living in the USA.

My advice is to really take time to self-evaluate your needs first. A tutor/teacher can help you with what they think you need help with. Instead of thinking, knowing what you need will help anyone better assist you.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The main question you any student should have is: why, how and when. Why do you want to improve skills? How are you going to improve your skills? When do you have time to practice and dedicate time to learning?

I have an individualized approach for teaching. This approach ensures that each student has a custom learning plan/ lessons designed to meet their needs. Hiring someone who recycles lessons for all students would be inneffective. I take time to curate an experience; for 1:1 remote tutoring, the cost of technology, providing students learning material and dedicating time per student are factors for pricing.
