About Pamela

I find it easy to connect with students as I consider myself a very empathetic person. My teaching process stands out because, rather than I grain my own learning methods into the brains of my students, I prefer to explore their specific approach and build upon their already established strategies to help them become a more well-rounded version of the student they already are.

I enjoy connecting with my students because I hope to make a difference in other people's lives--espically those who I can relate with well. As I consider myself an empathetic person, I often find myself building connections to my students in order to understand them more, and I feel that providing another branch to their support system is a very postitive things for students in the 21st century.

I graduated from Morristown-Beard School in June 2019 and I am set to graduate from Emory University in June 2023. I tutored my peers in high school in science and English, and I am currently employed as a teaching assistant in my university. I work with the professor to hold weekly classes which cover material learned and how to adaquately prepare for assessments. Attending the additional teaching sessions is highly recommended for an A in a given course in my university.

I like to get to know their learning style--as in whether they learn best through an auditory, visual, or kinetic approach. From there, I explore the way they approach the subject matter and identify ways to improve and/or build upon the way the student views the subject. The most important part of my teaching process is helping students help themselves so that, eventually, they are able to tackle difficult subject matter using problem-solving methods I have helped them establish. I want my students to achieve a level of self sufficiency to help them not only in present course work, but future studies as well.

I have worked with students ranging from 2nd graders needing assistance with basic grammar to college freshmens' essay finals. Much of my experience has been at the high school and college level. On occasion, I have worked with students with extenuating learning processes, although I would recommend a tutor with proper training in special needs for students in need of extra support.

I would recommend a consultation with a tutor before committing to any lessons as a proper learning environment is aided by a healthy student-tecaher relationship--it is difficult to progress alongside someone whose problem-solving approach differs greatly from your own; definitely explore multiple options before settling on one particular instructor.

My standard pricing is $11.00 per hour--this is the salary given by the university during the academic year and the pricing is retained in my personal tutoring business. Given extenuating circumstances, adjustments may be made to my pricing (immediate deadlines, emergency lessons, insufficient funds, etc). If your or your student's circumstances fall under the situations listed above, please email me and we can discuss adjustments to the fee.
