About Marina
As a high school senior, I have gotten 36 on ACT English sections, 118 on TOEFL, and 5 on AP English Language and Composition. I have a love for English and embrace the grammar police title. Having taught students ranging from 2nd-11th grade for the past two years, I have a good understanding of how to tutor different levels of English comprehension. I can also teach Math up to Precalculus and multiple Computing Languages:)
My age uniquely connects me to students and makes learning less stressful. I love connecting with people on a personal basis, even if the main goal is academic, because the most efficient learning is done without pressure or anxiety.

I first get a clear understanding of the specific areas they are concerned with, if there are any, and whether they wish to receive hw help or school-separate tutoring. I also use the first meeting to get to know my student and share interests or other non-academic fun facts to make future lessons more comfortable. I like getting any school resources if possible so that I have a base to work from and explore different online resources to see what works best for the student. For English specifically, I love when students try questions on their own and then ask me for explanations or help so that they can practice without the stress of not understanding a concept.
