About Sarah

I have always nurtured a passion for learning. The opportunity to teach students of all ages and skill levels is an extension of that passion. I believe every student has different needs and learns in different ways. My services stand out because I am able to tailor my students' strengths and weaknesses and work with them to achieve specific, measurable goals.

As an experienced AP student, I am familiar with the pressures of test-taking, the overwhelming "blank page" phenomenon of essay writing and the expectations of teachers. I try my best to not only ensure my students' mastery of the subject, but also teach them to become better overall learners. It's important to not only work on a student's areas of need, but also continue to further their strengths. The most rewarding aspect of tutoring is fostering a love for learning in my students and seeing their progress!

My lifelong interest in history and literature has instilled in me a passion for the subjects I teach. I genuinely love writing and everything to do with storytelling, whether it be through a research paper, an English assignment or classic literature analysis.

I graduated with as a valedictorian (unweighted 4.0 GPA) from a top-rated public high school where I took 10 AP classes and was editor-in-chief of my school newspaper. I earned a 1580 on the SAT with an 800 in reading/editing. I will attend Northwestern University this fall double majoring in journalism and sociology.

I was chosen as the Best of this website in 2020, which makes up less than 6 percent of all tutors on Tuturs.com! I have a year of experience tutoring middle school and high school students in a variety of subjects. I have a specific passion for writing/reading but also love history and math.

About the lesson

I strongly believe that every student is different and everyone learns in different ways. When working with a new student, I first pinpoint the student's needs as well as their strengths and weaknesses. From there, I will structure my lesson plans and teaching methods to cater to their specific needs as best as possible.

I prefer to have an initial no-cost meeting to meet the student and learn about their expectations and needs as a learner.

I usually charge $25-35 per hour but my pricing can be flexible depending on the family's ability to pay and the subject.
