About Meika

Hello-

I understand you have an enormous pool of qualified tutors to choose from, so let me make your choice a bit easier.

I hope that my qualifications and experience give you the confidence you need to make an informed decision.

I have over 20 years of experience both teaching English in the traditional classroom setting and tutoring a wide range of students. I have two Masters degrees in English and in special education and have worked in both fields over the years.

I have tutored children in acquiring the skills they need to become fluent readers and writers as well as college students who are struggling to keep up with the demands of college level writing and studying.

I have worked with a wide range of adults; those preparing to get their GED, high school students preparing for the SAT and adult students who want to improve their reading and writing skills.

I am totally down to earth and nonjudgemental- I understand that people are seeking to improve their skills or acquire new ones, and everyone comes to the table at different places. That is part of why I do what I do!

I have a sliding scale which is dependent on the individual’s current situation. 00 per hour which includes time spent preparing specific individualized instruction, the emailing of exercises and “homework” for continued practice, and access to messaging between sessions.
