About Mary

I am a recent college graduate from Louisiana State University and I am looking to fill my time with tutoring as I am waiting to move to Benin Africa after the pandemic.

I have experience tutoring younger children in reading and English as a second language, and I very comfortable speaking Spanish. I have experience working with people of all ages and abilities, and I am hoping to help you improve whatever you need help with!

I have a flexible schedule and I am willing to work with you online. I am also very patient and recognize tutoring can be a stressfull thing to do, so I want everyone I work with to feel comfortable with me during the learning process!

I recently graduated from Louisiana State University with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minors of both Spanish and Social Work.

I am qualified to be an ESL tutor because I taught myself Spanish and recognize that learning a new language comes with its own challenges that many people do not realize. Learning a new language is a difficult task, but after studying both Spanish and French, I have many tools and tricks that make understanding and applying a new language quick and fun.

Because I am a college graduate, I also recognize that the English language is complicated and very difficult to learn. Because I have prior experience traveling and teaching Spanish speakers English, I feel prepared to teach the English language and everything that comes with it, including pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, sentence construction, and more!

About the lesson

Typically, when it comes to ESL tutoring, it is important to first evaluate the level of English the student already knows. It is also important to pinpoint specifics in the student’s life, like field of work/study where the most important terminology to know will come from. Other than that, the process for learning a language is very different for every person, and recognizing the easiest techniques (and most fun) will be a big (and exciting) part of the process!

I have tutored younger children before, but I also have studied Spanish as an adult and recognize that learning English as a child versus as an adult is different. The process of learning a new language is different for everyone, but I have the tools to teach anyone at any age the English language and I am so excited!

My starting price is $30 per hour. If the student wants intensive tutoring (more than 3 times a week), that price may be reduced!

Also, just let me know about your financial ability when it comes to tutoring and we can make anything work.
