About Tonya

Recognizing that all students can be successful, I knew that education was the path I wanted to give my heart to. Creating optimal learning environments for all students was essential to my life work. I began as a middle school reading teacher, and then I moved to high school, where I taught English, theater, career planning and creative writing. Additionally, I have worked at the hospital as a job coach for students with disabilities. Moreover, for the past three years, I have worked on-line with students who live overseas

About the lesson

It is essential to build a relationship with the learner so that he or she feels confident and comfortable identifying learning gaps or misunderstandings. After gathering appropriate information and collaborating with the client, an action plan is developed for ongoing student success. This plan progresses and transforms to meet student growth.

-Elementary students for reading and writing support

-High School students to support English, writing and grammar

-High School study skills for science and social studies

-Public speaking for high school and college students

-College students for essay writing and general knowledge

-ACT and SAT for high school students

Students should understand that education is their right. They should find someone that will actively encourage growth, purpose and excellence.

A student that I tutored throughout elementary, middle and high school, is now in medical school. Marilyn is inspiring and her committment to excellence has been one of my greatest joys.
