About Devon
I am certified in Orton Gillingham, an instructional approach that is proven to help those with language-based disabillities learn to read, write and spell.
I have 6 years of experience as a teacher and language tutor of young children.
I enjoy learning along with my students and I find excitement in creating unique lessons designed to meet the individual needs of each child. Getting to know each of my students as individuals and using their strengths to help them learn is very rewarding.

I follow a process that engages all five senses. In this way, students are better able to make connections and commit their learning to memory in a meaningful way.
I also use a sequential approach wherein previous learning provides a foundation for subsequent lessons. By activating prior knowledge, students are able to build their understanding of language and word study in a meaningful way.
Students with all backgrounds and learning profiles (students who are "typical learners", students who are curious, students who are anxious, students who are discouraged, students who are frustrated, students with apraxia, dyslexia, ADHD, sensory processing challenges and more).
